What is Drop Socials?

Drop Socials is a geolocation-based app that helps you discover people in your proximity, connect with them, and exchange social links in real time. Our mission is to overcome social barriers and help people form new connections.

How does Drop Socials work?

When you open the app, you’ll see profiles of other users nearby. The closest users will show up highest on your “Explore Page”. You can view their profile, send a request to connect, and make a move without anxiety or awkward introductions.

Who / Where is Drop Socials for?

Drop is designed for anyone looking to expand their social circle—whether socially, romantically, or professionally. It's perfect for college campuses, events, coffee shops, walking down the street, or wherever else you go.

Do I need to pay to use Drop?

Nope, Drop is free to use!

Features and Uses

Can I control who sees my profile?

Yes! You can set visibility preferences in your settings to control who can see your profile when you’re in their proximity.

Can I control who shows up on my feed?

Of course! Utilize the filter feature on your “Explore Page” to select who you want to discover. 

What is a Drop Request?

A “Drop” is your way of initiating a connection. Sending a Drop notifies the user that you want to connect. Once accepted, you can access that user’s profile and social links at any time.

What’s the difference between a Drop Now and Drop Later?

“Drop Now” sends an immediate request to the user you want to connect with. “Drop Later” lets you schedule the request for later in the evening (9pm) or the following morning (9am). 

What is a Double Drop?

A Double Drop is when two people both Drop each other. When this happens, it’s a win-win…you’ll automatically be connected!

What is my Daily Drop Count?

Your Daily Drop Count is the number of Drop Requests you can send or schedule each day. All users start with a daily limit of 10 Drops and your Drop Count resets at midnight PT. Your Daily Drop Count will increase for every friend or family member you invite who joins Drop. Help spread the word and enjoy more connections!

How can I increase my Drop Count?

You can use our built-in sharing feature to invite friends via text, social media, or email. Help us grow the Drop community and improve the user experience.

Will a user be notified if I decline their Drop Request?

No, they will not be notified. Only accepted requests will lead to a notification. When you reject a Drop Request, you will no longer show up on each other’s “Explore Page.”

Will a user be notified if I view their profile or social links?

No, Drop users will only be notified when you send them a Drop Request.

Privacy and Security

Is my location shared in real time?

Your exact location is never revealed to other users. Drop will only show your profile to users nearby who meet your visibility preferences without exposing your precise location.

What about times where I don’t want to appear on other people’s feeds?

You can quickly and easily toggle your discoverability off whenever you wish within your settings page. You can also set “Invisible Spaces” which will automatically take you off the grid when you step within a set radius of a location you don’t want to be discovered at (like home or work). You’ll automatically be discoverable again when you leave your “Invisible Space”.

How long will it take for my discoverability status to change or my “Invisible Spaces” to kick in?

Toggling off your discoverability or stepping into an “Invisible Space” will immediately remove you from new searches.

Should I have my location preference set to ‘always allow’?

Always allowing location sharing will help you foster more new connections. This will allow you to show up on other user’s “Explore Page” and attract new connections even when you’re not actively using the app. Let Drop do the work for you! You’ll automatically remain hidden when you enter your “Invisible Spaces.”

What information is visible on my profile?

You control what you want to put on your profile, including your pictures, bio, profile details, and linked socials. You can update or remove information at any time.

What’s the difference between a Public and Private profile?

Public and Private profiles will both be shown to other nearby users who meet your visibility preferences. However, with a private profile, only your connections and users you have sent a Drop Request to will be able to see your full profile (e.g., social links, bio, profile attributes).

Can I block or report someone?

Absolutely. If you find someone has violated our community guidelines, you can block or report them within the app, and our team will review the issue promptly.
